Russell Crowe Is Now Auctioning Off Stuff From His Divorce at Sotheby's

It's also being held on the anniversary of his wedding. Um, OK.

Russell Crowe is about to be officially divorced from Australian actress Danielle Spencer, and he’s putting the stuff he accumulated during their marriage up for auction at Sotheby’s.

The two separated five years ago, and with it finally coming to a close, the actor has decided to rid himself of 29 luxury watches (one worth $50,000), cars, furniture, instruments, cricket gear, and film memorabilia all collected during the marriage in an auction at Sotheby’s Australia called, “The Art of Divorce.”

That’s one way to get rid of the past.

The catalogue for the auction shows Crowe with cocktail looking like he is celebrating … which he likely is.

In total, 227 items will be available for bidding on April 7, which is both Russell’s 54th birthday — and his wedding anniversary.

Australia’s Daily Telegraph reported that the divorce should be finalized right around auction time, and he says his soon-to-be ex-wife even helped choose items to bid on.

“We’ve been separated over five years now, our divorce should be finalized around the time of the auction. Just as we collaborate on the upbringing of our kids, it’s easy for us to work together on something like this. I think she feels the same way I do in regards to just moving on things that help create space for the future…On the practical side, this collection probably equates to three rooms full of things I’ll no longer have to care for, document, clean, tune, and insure,” Crowe said.

Among the more interesting items:

A pair of seven-foot tall prop horses from Gladiator at $2,000-$4,000 each.

His faded leather jock strap from Cinderella Man at $500-$600.

18th-Century Dueling Pistols at $5,000-$8,000.

1890 Leandro Bisiach Violin Used in Master and Commander (the most expensive piece in the collection) at $110,000-$140,000.
